The Inshindo Foundation, Zambia
BASED-UK works in partnership with the Inshindo Foundation in Zambia. Inshindo works in rural and urban settings to establish the Preparation for Social Action programme, aimed at empowering and equipping youth with the knowledge and skills to initiate their own development activities.
Preparation for Social Action (PSA) Training Programme
The PSA programme develops the capacities of youth for sustainable social and economic development. The programme is based on SAT (Sistema de Aprendizaje Tutorial) which was developed in Colombia to provide a core educational curriculum designed to integrate knowledge and promote education within rural communities. The programme fosters a commitment to spiritual transformation and active community service, and engages youth in activities that strengthen self-esteem, promote the creation of local social and economic structures, and mobilize local and regional financial resources.
The SAT programme has been implemented in Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Colombia. With the translation of SAT texts to English, Bahá'í-inspired NGOs are experimenting with the programme in Zambia and other African nations.
